12. Creed Humphrey

Position: C | Team: Kansas City Chiefs | Age: 25

Offensive linemen don’t often make headlines, but if we can celebrate Jason Kelce for all he accomplished with the Philadelphia Eagles, let’s give Humphrey the respect he deserves: In three years, the Oklahoma product has never missed a game while giving Patrick Mahomes sterling protection on the interior.

PFT’s 2024 Pre-Camp Power Rankings | NBC Sports

These rankings are not a prediction of how teams will finish the 2024 season. Instead, the following list is a snapshot of where the NFL’s teams currently are. (Will that stop people from interpreting these ranking as a prediction of how teams will finish the 2024 season? Nope.)

1. Chiefs: The two-time champs will stay kings of the NFL mountain, until someone knocks them off.

2. 49ers: They keep knocking on the door. Can they finally kick it in this year?

3. Lions: The hard part is getting to a 17-point halftime lead in the NFC Championship. The easy part is holding it.

It turns out Travis Kelce shared the stage with Khalen Saunders’ brother on Sunday

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is nominated at the 2024 BET Awards | Chiefs Wire

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to add to their honors from the 2023 season. Pro Bowl quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be in the running for another off-season award this summer.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP is a Sportsman of the Year nominee at the 2024 BET Awards this Sunday. The Black Entertainment Television network annually recognizes artists, entertainers, and athletes across multiple categories. Mahomes’ competition in the category includes Jalen Hurts from the Philadelphia Eagles, who won the award last year, Anthony Edwards, Gervonta Davis, Jalen Brunson, Kyrie Irving, Lebron James, and Stephen Curry.

Jacksonville approves $1.4B renovation of Jaguars stadium | ESPN

That brings the Jaguars one step closer to securing the long-term stability of the franchise, with the final hurdle getting the agreement approved by 24 of the NFL’s 32 owners at the league’s meetings in October in Atlanta.

If that happens, construction is scheduled to begin after the team’s 2025 season concludes and will finish in time for the 2028 season.

“This is a historic day for our city,” Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan said. “As I said to the council, this is what we can do when we all row together and we focus on a goal together.

“Monumental. I think it’s generational progress.”

5 Cut Candidates Who Should Be on Every NFL Team’s Radar | Bleacher Report

WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, New England Patriots

The New England Patriots brought in JuJu Smith-Schuster in attempt to bolster their receiving corps last season, a move that largely failed to pan out for the slumping franchise.

The 27-year-old is now a realistic cut candidate for a team that cleaned house this offseason and is ready to begin a new era under head coach Jerod Mayo and quarterback Drake Maye.

Former New England star Chris Hogan told The Patriots Report that Smith-Schuster could be released and that he “doesn’t believe [Smith-Schuster] makes the team” as the receiver lacked a defined role in the team’s offense last year.

The 2018 Pro Bowler struggled through the worst campaign of his professional career in 2023, totaling just 260 yards and one touchdown on a meager 29 receptions. He was dealing with injuries that held him to just 11 appearances and hindered his ability to contribute when he was on the field.

Ex-Raiders DE Chandler Jones pleads no contest, may avoid jail | ESPN

Jones received a suspended 90-day jail sentence. The charge will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for the next six months and has no contact with the victim, except for Family Court orders, according to the records.

Jones, 34, was arrested in Las Vegas in September and charged with a misdemeanor for violating a domestic violence temporary protective order. He was arrested again in October for violating the protective order.

He was charged with two misdemeanors in September, but one of those charges was dismissed when he made his plea, according to the records.

Giants thought they would have to give up more in trade for Brian Burns | NBC Sports

In the trailer, Giants General Manager Joe Schoen is shown discussing the possibility of trading for Burns with Giants head coach Brian Daboll. In the clip, Schoen says he thinks the price would be two second-round draft picks.

“What about Brian Burns, have you looked at Brian Burns? We would have to trade, like, two twos, and then you’d have to pay him, $28-$29 million,” Schoen told Daboll.

But when the trade happened, the Giants only had to give up a second-round pick, a fifth-round pick and a swap of fifth-rounders. The Giants got Burns for less than they expected, which may mean that if the Panthers had driven a harder bargain they could have received more.

Chiefs, Hallmark teaming to create new Christmas movie

The Kansas City Chiefs and Hallmark are teaming up to create a new, original Christmas movie, titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” according to a press release issued by the club on Tuesday.

“We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this,” said Chiefs president Mark Donovan. “As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”

Here is the rundown of the film’s plot:

Alana Higman (played by Hunter King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick (played by Tyler Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists. As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s (played by Ed Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.

Social media to make you think

Here’s the deal: if your team’s QB is Patrick Mahomes….you are best set up for success. He led them to a 2nd straight Super Bowl and 3rd in 5 years with a WR core that for the most part couldn’t catch a cold. This isn’t hard https://t.co/cH5HhnGKnz
