A crisp refreshing Cabbage Salsa with cabbage, onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeno and lime.
I know some of you may be turning up your noses and saying “cabbage salsa?!” but bear with me. It’s good. Really good. It’s crunchy. It’s light. It’s fresh. It is a nice change from traditional canned salsa. And even a nice change from your traditional tomato based fresh salsa. And is FABULOUS on Shrimp Tacos.
Cabbage salsa is loaded with chopped cabbage, fresh tomatoes, jalapeno, cilantro and lime. It’s the perfect way for me to enjoy a little me time.
Let’s talk about “me time” for a moment. I know you other parents out there can relate. Me time is few and far between, especially when your kids are little. But that just means that when you get it, you savor it a little bit more. It could be something as little as reading a few pages of a book. Watching an hour of trashy TV.
My chips n’ salsa time is my me time.
If I had to pick my favorite go to snack, it would hands down be chips and salsa. It is my favorite snack to grab when I get a second of mommy time. I sit down, open the chips and reach for the salsa and snack away.
It may only be 5 or 10 minutes, but it’s just the perfect amount of time to get the recharge that I need. And while I usually reach my favorite habanero salsa, sometimes I want things a little less spicy, a little more fresh and and little bit on the crunchy side. This Cabbage Salsa is just that.
How do you make cabbage salsa?
It isso easy to make cabbage salsa. Simply chop the cabbage, onion, tomato and jalapeno. Then mix them with the remaining ingredients and you’re good to go. I do like to let the salsa chill for at least an hour so the that flavors have a chance to develop.
Whether you want to spoon this Cabbage Salsa over your favorite tacos or scoop up with homemade tortilla chips, you’re going to love this fresh twist on salsa.

I also love a bit of crunch in my salsa, so I love that you’ve added cabbage for that texture. Awesome summer appetizer!

Looking for a recipe for a salsa like what we used to get at a now-defunct Mexican restaurant in The Dalles a few years back. And THIS came up! This is it! We will enjoy!
And we also were there, enjoying Garth at the Moda. The man and his better half really put on an awesome show! We went not knowing what to expect, just that we knew a lot of his songs and it seemed like a good thing to be a part of, and we were gobsmacked!
Happy New Year!

I LOVE chips and salsa. I could make an entire meal out of just that. One of our favorite little Mexican restaurants serves a complementary cabbage salsa like this alongside the traditional salsa. We devour the slaw. So happy to find a recipe for this. :-)
