My recipe for coconut cold brew has quickly become my favorite way to drink coffee! When you’ve already made your cold brew concentrate, you only need to stir in a couple of ingredients for this nutritionally rich, creamy, coconutty, and slightly sweet drink.
I recently shared my Easy Cold Brew Coffee recipe, which tells you how to make cold brew concentrate at home with just a few simple steps. Cold brew is a really simple way to make coffee that is rich in flavor, smooth, and easier to digest! Head over to my post about the specifics of how to make it, what’s so great about it, and what equipment you need. But here are some highlights…
Cold brew coffee is made by soaking cold water in coarse coffee grounds for 12 hours or more. This makes for a strong and bold flavored coffee. It’s much less watery than iced coffees tend to be, because iced coffee is usually brewed hot, then poured over ice. But you can also drink cold brew coffee hot!
In addition, cold brew coffee is easier on sensitive stomachs than traditionally brewed coffee. The cold brew method pulls fewer of the compounds out of the coffee beans that can cause your stomach to produce excess acid and cause indigestion. To learn more about how to choose and prepare coffee for better digestion, check out my post, The Best Coffee for Sensitive Stomachs.

So why coconut?
Ilooooove coconut. I drink coconut water, eat coconut chips, bake with coconut, cook with coconut milk, use coconut oil, andadd coconut to my coffee!
Some people are afraid of coconut, because they’ve heard it’s high in fat. Well you’re right! Coconut is high in fat – but it’s a healthy and super beneficial fat.(Read all about it inDr. Axe’s articleon the topic.) Plus, coconut is full of beneficial vitamins and minerals, and is accredited with a long list of health benefits.
Coconut Cold Brew Recipe
This recipe seriously couldn’t get any simpler. When I make this coconut cold brew, I just use canned coconut milk. Usually when you open a can of coconut milk, the coconut cream has risen to the top, and the rest of the can is coconut water.
I would add 1/4 cup of the cream from the top of the can, then 1/2 cup of the coconut water to my cold brew concentrate.
You can find coconut water and canned coconut milk in most grocery stores. (Check the Asian and baking sections for the canned coconut milk – I’ve seen it in both places!) You can also buy organic coconut water, organic coconut milk, and coconut cream on Amazon:
Step One:
Either follow my cold brew coffee recipe, or purchase cold brew concentrate from a grocery store. You can also buy organic cold brew concentrate from Amazon:
Step Two:
Decide if you want to drink your cold brew hot or cold. If cold, move to step four. If hot, continue to step three.
Step Three:
If you’re going to drink your cold brew coffee hot, pour 1/2 cup coconut water and 1/4 cup coconut cream or milk in a small saucepan, and heat over medium-low until steaming.
Step Four:
Pour 1/2 cup of cold brew concentrate into a glass or mug, and stir in 1/2 cup coconut water and 1/4 cup coconut cream or milk. Depending on how strong you like your coffee and how strong your concentrate is, you may want to adjust these amounts to taste. If you’re drinking your coconut cold brew cold, add ice if you’d like. And enjoy!
