Easy Peach Turnovers Recipe (1)

I love this time of year when the local orchards are harvesting peaches… it’s pretty hard to beat a juicy fresh picked peach, don’t you think?!

This delightful peach treat is perfect to whip together with fresh peaches but, frozen peaches would work well too.

How to Make Peach Turnovers with Puff Pastry

The real star of this recipe is the frozen sheets of puff pastry you can pick up at your local grocery. Store-bought puff pastry is an unsung hero that makes anything you make with it look like it was made by a French chef. You’ll need the following to make this recipe.

  • 4 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 5 C fresh peaches, peeled and chopped
  • 1 (17.3 oz) package puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • milk – Just a tablespoon or so for brushing the puff pastry.
  • Raw sugar, for garnish
  • Sweet Peach Glaze:
  • 3/4 C powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 Tbsp plus 1 tsp leftover juice from peach mixture
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • Dash of salt
  1. Set your puff pastry out to thaw a bit.
  2. Combine sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix.
  3. Add peaches and toss to coat. This recipe calls for fresh peaches, but you can use canned if that’s all you have.
  4. Unfold the thawed puff pastry and cut each sheet into 4 squares.
  5. Brush the edges of one square with milk.
  6. Spoon 2 Tbsp filling into the center of square, fold one corner over the filling to the opposite corner.
  7. Press edges with the tines of a fork to seal.
  8. Place on prepared baking sheet.
  9. Repeat with additional squares of pastry.
  10. Reserve liquid from peach mixture.
  11. Prick tops of turnovers with fork in several places. Brush with additional milk and sprinkle with raw sugar.
  12. Bake 15-18 minutes or until lightly browned.
  13. Cool slightly on baking sheet on a wire rack.

Can You Use Canned Peaches?

If you don’t have fresh peaches available, you can use canned or jarred peaches for this turnover recipe.

Can You Make Turnovers with Different Fruit?

Yes! You can use your favorite fruit or a mixture. Some fruits like bananas, grapes and oranges will not be a good choice. Pie filling in any variety is a great option when you don’t have fresh or canned fruits. I’ve made the following recipes using puff pastry and different flavors.

  • Puff Pastry Pumpkin Cream Cheese Braid
  • Puff Pastry Fruit Braid
  • Puff Pastry Hearts Dessert
