The best seats at Fenway Park for being in the shade are in the Grandstand, especially on the third base side. These seats are covered from the elements even during early afternoon games. If you want to sit closer to the field, sit on the third base side to get the shade first and to have the sun behind you. Avoid the bleachers at all costs for late afternoon and evening games if you are sensitive to the sun....More

At Fenway Park, PB sections are located directly behind PC sections and are under the roofPB Sections If you are looking for some protection from the elements on the upper level of Fenway Park, consider rows C and higher in any of the PB sections as they have a roof above covering you from the sun and rain. "Difficult To Watch the Infield" -

    Field Box 7, Row H, Seat 7

When I walked into our entry tunnel, I was pretty excited to be sitting to so close to the field at Fenway Park and also thought we might have a pretty good chance at a foul ball from where we were. Sadly however, the seats turned out to be a big let down.

Firstly, the seats are way too shallow to the field, making it very hard to see the infield over the fans in front. I was constantly trying to move forward to try and watch the ball as it made its way to from the pitcher to home plate.

The seating angle was incredibly poor as well, as we were facing left center field rather than angled back towards the infield. This setup causes you to turn your head a ton to the left to watch the pitchers mound and batters box, which ultimately resulted in a really stiff upper back the next day after the game.

Luckily we got some cloud cover during the second half of the extra innings game, otherwise I would have been toast in spite of putting on sunscreen prior to the game (there is little relief in terms of shade here during day games).

Overall, I can't say I would recommend these seats to anyone given the incredibly uncomfortable seating setup and very difficult infield views.

"Close to Amenities with a Decent View" -

    Grandstand 27, Row 4, Seat 18

My view was pretty good considering I was rolling the dice on the Grandstand level not knowing if I would have a clear view to the field. I was at the far edge of the visitors dugout on the third base line, which meant I had to turn a bit to the right to watch the infield and the batters box. But the beams didn't impact my view, so I was pleasantly surprised with my seat.

Under great cover, with excellent shade as well. The row is extremely large with 25 seats, so I definitely felt for the fans in the middle of the row knowing they had a long walk to get to and from the seats. If possible, stay towards the left aisle (higher numbered seats) as the views are better and you'll be closer to the aisle at the left. I was in a very good position at Seat 18, and wouldn't have wanted to be in a lower numbered seat.

Legroom was very cramped for a guy with longer legs, so I wouldn't recommend these if you're taller and looking for a comfortable seat at Fenway. But as a bonus, there are some great concessions nearby just above Grandstand Section 29, and the men's room was right above our section.

    "Perfect Placement Between Beams" -

    Grandstand 26, Row 15, Seat 15

My seat was three rows from the top of the grandstand level, so I went in expecting to have a beam directly in my line of sight and ruining my day at the ballpark. But much to my surprise and delight, my seats was almost perfectly positioned where the beam to my left was just beyond the infield dirt at third base, and the beam to my right was just behind the home plate umpire!

I could see the entire infield without obstruction, so I chalked this one up to a very lucky success. No views of the center field videoboard, and plays in the left field corner were a mystery, but there are TV monitors mounted to the ceiling to provide some relief.

The seats aren't the most comfortable as they are very old, which is great for adding character to the experience of being at Fenway, but not so great for sitting for 9 innings straight.

Had I been just a few seats further to my right, the view would have been far more difficult with the beam to my right cutting off parts of the infield. So if you can, stick to seats 13 through 22 for the best views from Row 15.

    "Fenway's Finest!" -

Loge Box 157, Row MM, Seat 4

If you're looking for a comfortable seat with amazing views, this is where you'll find it!

Loge Box 157 is the first Loge level section down the third base line where the seats begin to angle towards the infield instead of just facing straight ahead towards the right field wall. Fans in the section to my right have to turn their heads to watch the action in the infield, but that wasn't the case for me.

My seat was particularly great as my straight ahead view put third base, the pitchers mound, and first base all in my direct field of vision where I didn't have to turn my head at all. Seeing the Green Monster does require a head turn to your left though, but for just watching the action on the field I don't know if it gets any better than here.

The seats are very close to the visitors dugout, and are also under cover of the roof above for good shade during the middle of the day. The nearest entry tunnel is not super close, but I didn't care as I was all about watching the game from these fantastic seats!

"Be Prepared for the Sun" -

Loge Box 160, Row KK, Seat 5

The view of the field was really quite good, nice elevation above field level, and a good angle to see the pitchers mound and the Red Sox dugout in the background. The seats also felt very close to the third base dugout (visiting team), although don't have much a view of the visitors players sitting on the bench.

But the biggest thing that stuck out to me was the amount of sun you get when sitting here. Wish I had been a few rows higher where the seats got some shade from the upper deck, and sadly I was just a few rows too low where sunscreen is an absolutely must.

Also, just a pointer to try to get the higher numbered seats in this Row KK. There are 12 seats in the row with a railing at the right side of the row, so if you're in seat 1 you'll be climbing over quite a few people to get to the only aisle which is at the left side of the row (at Seat 12).

    "Straight Away But Sunny" -

    Bleachers 42, Row 48, Seat 25

Comfortable seats with a cool view to almost all areas of the field. Didn't have to turn my head nearly at all to follow the game.

I noticed that the seating gets quite a bit higher every four rows or so in my section, providing good legroom and a great viewing height over the fans just in front. Luckily my seat was in one of those rows, so I had a very good view and room to stretch out a bit.

Breeze was nice, but there is absolutely no shade to speak of out here so be sure to bring your sunscreen! Its a long walk down to the entry tunnel, so I wouldn't recommend for fans that don't want to be climbing a bunch of stairs to reach the seats.

The Kids Concourse is pretty close by (just behind the right field corner), but considering the sun and the amount of stairs, I probably wouldn't bring my family here.

    "Perfect Viewing Position!" -

Loge Box 137, Row JJ, Seat 3

For me, these seats are at an ideal viewing height for watching the game. I've sat in the Field Box seats before which are closer to the action, but the seating there is very low to the ground and I prefer more elevation as it makes it easier to follow the action anywhere on the field.

Only 7 seats in the row, so I could easily get in to the seat from either aisle. One of the big things here is that I was under the roof of the upper seating deck, so during a mid-day start I was comfortably in the shade by about 3 or 4 rows.

Protective netting prevents most foul balls from making it to the seats, which is good if you're worried about getting hit by a ball, but not ideal if you're looking to catch a souvenir. Close to an entry tunnel just one section over, comfortable seats, and no obstructed

"Pretty good seats if you don't mind the support poles" -

    Grandstand 10, Row 9, Seats 9-11

For affordable seats, they weren't awful. The view of the diamond included a support pole, but it was strategically placed between the pitcher's mound and home plate, so you could see the throw and batter's response pretty well. If you wanted to see anything on the jumbo screen (replays or any other info displayed), forget it! There was a major pole obstruction so you could only see half of the screen. That was kind of annoying. I found the actual seat uncomfortable - even for Fenway Park seats! The seat was near the inside end of the row, so if fans to your left needed to get up, you would have to get up to let them in and out. Fortunately our neighbors only got up once. All in all - for the price - the seats weren't bad....More

"I'd Rather Sit Behind a Pole in the Grandstand" -

    Field Box 7, Row H, Seat 8

A week later I'm still sore from sitting in these seats. After a four and a half hour extra inning marathon, my back is sore from squirming to see and my tan shows no sign of disappearing.

If you were to sit in your seat and look forward, you would look directly at the edge of the Green Monster. In other words, these seats are really poorly angled towards home plate. To see, you have to turn your entire body or neck completely sideways. Once your finally accomplish that feat, you have to look over a million people - only to be staring right at the first base coach. That last part is just bad luck, but do yourself a favor and find seats with a better angle. I've sat all over Fenway and these are easily the worst seats.

"Right Next to the Monster" -

    Grandstand 33, Row 5, Seat 4

If I leaned forward I could see home plate OK around the beam, but if I was just sitting back comfortably I couldn't see anything near the batters box. Seats 1 through 3 were even worse, so I felt really bad for the fans to my right. Seats 5 and higher have far superior views, but put you further from the lone aisle which is at the right side of the row (at Seat 1).

Views of the center field scoreboards were not all that great, but I will admit that it was kind of fun being so close to the Green Monster, watching balls bounce off during deep left field shots.

Concessions require a bit of a walk, but the shade and cover was a nice perk to have given the longer walks and poorer views.

"Really Enjoyed the Shade and Breeze" -

Loge Box 139, Row JJ, Seat 4

Great for access as my seat was on the aisle and there was just 4 seats in the row so that meant less getting up to allow other fans in the row to reach the aisle. Nicely in the shade during a 1PM start in the middle of June, and a really nice breeze coming through to top it all off.

Viewing angle is nice as you face right at home plate, although its tough to see deep down the left field line. Very cool views of the Prudential Building above right field, and you can even see into the Red Sox dugout along the first base line.

You wont find much protection from the netting behind home plate, so be on your toes for hot foul balls flying through to the stands.

    Pavilion Box 8, Row D, Seat 12

Excellent shade during a midday game, and some good breeze as well. Bar rail seating just above so I was a bit worried something might get spilled on me, but luckily that was never the case.

Concession stand right behind the seats, so at 2 seats from the aisle and just 2 rows down from the top, it doesn't get much easier for grabbing food and beverage!

Views are really good except for some blockage to the left field corner. Can't really see the left field foul pole either. But a good view into the Redsox Dugout and a great view of the Boston skyline (Prudential Building) in the background. All around solid value!!

    "Never Again!" -

    Grandstand 29, Row 7, Seat 3

The view could not possibly have been any worse. The beam right in front of the seats was in terrible position, blocking any view of the batters box or home plate area. Had I been in seat 1 or 2, I could have seen some of home plate, although you'd be following the pitch through the beam as it makes its way to the catcher.

Avoid seats 3 and 4, they are absolutely horrible. If you can get seats 12 through 14 the views get much, much better, however you will be further from the aisle.

Combine the awful view with the cramped legroom, and it definitely ends up being a seat which I hope I never have to sit in again.

    Field Box 49, Row M, Seat 1

Awesome view from an aisle seat almost right behind home plate (a tad closer to the visitors dugout). The seats have a really good viewing angle into the Red Sox dugout, and nice head on views of the center field scoreboard. The only area that doesn't have an excellent view is down the left field corner.

My only complaint here is the exposure, as there is no shade to speak of and the sun makes it really hot during day games here. But the seats are just one row away from an entry tunnel if you want to visit the concourse for a break from the heat and to grab some food and beverage.

The only place where the beams impact the view from this section and row is if you're sitting in seats 1 through 4, otherwise you don't have to worry about having an obnoxious obstruction in your way.

Head on views of the pitchers mound, batters box, and center field scoreboard were very good, although being behind home plate means the protecting netting took away any shot I had at a foul ball souvenir.

Legroom is lacking, not great for a 6 footer like myself. But my seat was very safely covered and incredibly shady during a hot summer day game.

It was really difficult to see anything up against center field and right center field. Videoboards are nearly impossible to see as well, requiring a complete turnaround to catch whats going on there.

The one really fun part about sitting here though is the proximity to the bullpens. When standing you can see a good portion of the Red Sox bullpen, and it feels very close to the relievers and catchers as they warm up.

Just be prepared for a lot of sun as the only thing that provides shade during a day game is cloudy skies.

It was tough to see down the left field line, and the seats could be a bit more elevated for my liking, but that's just if I'm being super picky, as the view is stunning.

At Fenway there are two primary options for covered seating. Buy a cheap seat in the Grandstand level and play roulette with the obstructive poles or head up to one of these Pavilion Boxes.

In a small ballpark there are much closer views, but these are the seats all the club ticketholders (pavilion club is just in front of these but not covered) flocked to when it started raining.
