How To Make A Textured Crochet Square Pattern

To be able to crochet this square, you’ll need to know some basic stitches and have a few crocheting supplies on hand.

Supplies

Yarn:This square is made with a four weight yarn (aka worsted weight yarn) called Pound of Love by Lion Brand. If you’d like to use a differentweight yarn, that would work as well, but keep in mind the finished square size will not be the same.

Crochet Hook:This square was worked up with a H-5 mm crochet hook. If you choose to use a different yarn weight, follow along with the recommended crochet hook size on the label of the yarn.

Scissors:We recommend a nice pair of stork scissors, but any pair of scissors will work for cutting yarn ends when needed.

Yarn Needle:It is a good idea to use a yarn needle (aka tapestry needle) toweave in yarn endsthat have been cut. Learn how to weave in yarn ends, so you get a perfect crochet square every time!

Stitch Markers:Stitch markers are a good to use to mark the first stitch of each round. This way, you’ll be able to know where it starts and keep your stitch count correct as you work in the round.

Single Crochet (sc)

  1. Start by making a slip knot on the crochet hook.
  2. Crochet a foundation chain (aka chain stitch) of any amount
  3. Next, insert the hook into the second chain from the hook.
