A partner at KPMG, he devoted himself to his work, overcoming serious health problems to pursue excellence in his Mr. Lowry was born in Albuquerque, NM and grew up in Norman, OK, the son of Anne D.
Lowry and William H. Lowry. After graduating from Norman High School as a National Merit Scholar, he graduated from Williams College with a Political Science degree and from Yale Law School Between college years, he spent a summer as an intern for Credit Lyonnais polishing his French language skills. Prior to joining KPMG, he was employed at Bank of Boston while studying to become a CPA. Paul was a relentless collector of things that interested him.
As a boy he collected coins and stamps and when vacationing with his family in Colorado, boxed, labeled and categorized a collection of rocks and minerals. A bassoonist with a love of classical music, he had many albums in that genre. Later, as a young man living and working in the Boston area, Paul roamed markets and antique shows looking for Depression glass and china. These interests were pursued vigorously at those rare times when he was not working late hours developing his skills as a tax attorney. A lifelong love of plants was formed at an early age, and he became an accomplished gardener with an amazing knowledge and appreciation of perennials, shrubs, and trees with an aptitude for creating landscapes in harmony with their spaces.
On Sundays he could be found at the Arnold Arboretum with his brother, wandering the paths, studying the specimens. Sadly, in 1988 he contracted a virus that triggered an autoimmune response that could not be repressed by his doctors. His physical disabilities were severe, and would become progressively debilitating over a more than three decade period. He threw himself entirely into work, where he unfailingly demonstrated his loyalty, integrity, intelligence and worth. He was consistently kind and gentle to everyone he encountered, taking a keen interest in their lives and families and conversing at length on all manner of topics.
Both the colleagues with whom he worked and the clients he worked for, maintained their allegiance to him, and respect for his work and service, even as his physical health declined. Paul made a life for himself that was meaningful. He will be greatly missed by his circle of family and friends, co- workers and clients who know what a remarkable person he was. Mr. Lowry is survived by his sister, Margaret Lowry, her husband, Bradley Steele, their children, Peter Steele, and Laura Steele, of Winchester and Somerville, and his longtime caregiver, Edelmira Figueroa and her family.

Jerry was an internationally renowned leader in pediatric infectious diseases. His career spanned over 50 years in patient care, research and teaching at Boston Medical Center.
His many honors include the Bristol Award for Distinguished Achievement of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Maxwell Finland Award for Achievement from the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. Jerry had many passions, including big band music, jazz, theater, Boston sports teams and spending time with his family at his home on Wingaersheek Beach. Leccese, 74, of Tewksbury, passed away at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He was the loving husband of Donna (Ventola) Leccese.
Bill and his wife would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April of 2022. Bill was the son of the late William and Eleanor (Guliano) Leccese. He was born November 17, 1946 in Everett and grew up in Malden, graduating Malden High School with the class of 1964. In 1966 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970 having obtained the rank of Sergeant.
Bill returned to Malden, married and started a family. He and his family relocated to Tewksbury in 1980. He was an extremely dedicated father and truly loving grandfather. The time he spent with his children and grandchildren brought him great joy, especially the time spent at their summer home in Maine. Bill was an easy going guy who would drop everything at anytime to help his family and friends.
His kindness, generosity, helpfulness, humor and constant whistling will be missed by all. He worked for National Grid Gas for nearly 50 years, he retired as a lead inspector. He is also survived by his three children, William Leccese, III and his wife Patti Ann of Peterborough, NH, Danielle Harris and her husband Chad of Chester, NH, and Nickolas Leccese and his wife Lauren of Billerica; his grandchildren Ava Alexis Leccese and Mia Harris; his sister Anna Tilton of Malden, his sister-in-law Linda Jordan and her husband Robert of Malden. LOCKE, Maryel Died on Day, February 14, 2021. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 27, 1926 to Burnham and Eleanor Finney, and grew up in Detroit, MI and Scarsdale, NY. Maryel graduated from Radcliffe College in 1947 and mar- ried Edward French. They had 4 sons. After a divorce in 1956, Maryel married Dudley Hartung in 1958, and had 1 son.
Maryel served two terms on the Weston (MA) School Committee from 1962-1968. As Chair in her second term, she was instrumental in bringing MET- CO, the largest voluntary school desegregation program, to Weston Public Schools. Maryel was Editor of the Radcliffe Quarterly from 1964-1971. She published the poetry of Pulitzer Prize winners Anne Sexton and Maxine Kumin. She also published an influential medical article by Dr.
Oliver Cope, titled, Cancer: Has the Time Come for a Less Mutilating Vogue magazine reprinted the article, and the article was discussed in multiple other journals. The article has been cited as having contributed to a shift in medical practice away from routine radi- cal mastectomies for women with breast cancer. A book Breast Cancer chronicles interactions between Dr. Cope and Ms. Locke.
As a close friend of Anne Sexton, Maryel wrote a compelling Sexton which appeared in the book, to Sexton: Six Poets at published by the University of Texas in 1992. In 1970, Maryel married for a third and final time to Laurence S. Locke, a noted Compensation attorney. Maryel had entered Boston College Law School and in her last year she organized students to abolish class rank, believing the ranking only helped the top few. Maryel graduated law school in 1972.
She joined her law firm of Petkun Locke where she special- ized in Family Law. During that time, she was Director of Boston NOW Legal Referral Services, Member of Board of Delegates (Massachusetts Bar Associa- tion) and Member of Board of Editors (Boston Bar Journal.) She also served on the MA Board of Higher Education and the Advisory Board for WAND: Action for Nuclear Disarmament. In 1993, Maryel Locke and Charles Warren were co-editors of Hail Mary: Women and the Sacred in a book of essays analyz- ing controversial film about a modern-day rendition of the biblical Mary and her virgin birth. Maryel was Secretary for Friends of Film Commit- tee at the Museum of Fine Arts, taught film at Harvard Institute For Learning in Retirement, served as Vice-President of Center Screen at Harvard and was a Board member of Boston Film and Video. Maryel was an advocate for the arts and reveled in live performances.
She bought tickets for her extended family to experience modern dance, ballet, jazz, film and theater. She gave generously to The Celebrity Series, Boston Ballet, and Museum of Fine Arts. Maryel Locke was predeceased by her husband, Larry Locke, her brother, Paul Finney, stepson, Jim Locke and grandson, Caleb French. She leaves five sons (in descending age order), Robert French, Thomas French, Gregory French, Daniel French, and Paul Har- tung; 4 daughters-in-law, Francine Veilleux, Evelyn Tate, Rosann Tung, and Kay Hartung; stepdaughter, Nancy Meyer; stepson, David Locke; lifelong family friend, Judy Nutting; nine grand- children, Conor French, Jesse French, Jonathan French, Derek French, Nicole French, Megan Marcelin, Zoe French, Emily Hartung and Miles Hartung; and three great-grandchildren, as well as 2 nephews and a niece. She also leaves be- hind extended family and many friends.
