Homemade hot cocoa recipe makes a great gift idea for friends, neighbors, and hostesses. Today’s post also includes free printable labels.
Hi Kenarry readers! I’m Lori fromGreco Design Companyback again toshare a delicioushot cocoa recipe that can be created at home and given as a gift to almost anyone on your list. Or make a big batch for yourself to help get you through the upcoming cold winter days!
Hot cocoa is perfect for this time of year and it’s enjoyed long after the holidays are gone. I tried a few different combinations and came up with this easy-to-make, super delicious recipe.I even designed some labels that you can download for free, making this mixture theperfect, homemade gift idea.

Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix
Course: Beverage
Servings: 36 + cups

Ingredients
- 1 cup non-dairy powdered coffee creamer
- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 cups nonfat instant dry powdered milk
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- Miniature marshmallows
Instructions
Combine all of the ingredients, except the marshmallows, in a large bowl and stir to combine.
Place in a sealed container.
To prepare the hot cocoa, place 1/3 cup cocoa mix into a mug.
Fill with hot milk and stir until well blended.
Top with mini marshmallows, and stir with a cinnamon stick for added flavor.

How to Make Hot Cocoa Mix Gifts
Now that you have therecipe, go ahead and create it. Then fill your jar(s) with this hot cocoa mix and top it off with a few extra chocolate chips and add a pretty bow.You can also print the free instruction label or tags onto card stock, cutthem out, punch a hole in the top and tie them with ribbon, string or baker’s twine.
These jarsof homemade hot cocoa are great when you need a hostess gift or something for a teacher, mail carrier or hairdresser. You can evenmake a big batchto keep for yourself. I used mineto set up a fun hot cocoa bar that is always a big hit with visitors (and my kids!).Here are some additional items you could include in your hot cocoa bar:
- updated rolling cart
- candy canes
- cinnamon sticks
- mini marshmallows
- mugs, spoons and plates
- holiday decorations
- tray and coasters
